Primus Standard GAP/GMP

The Primus Standard Audit (PSA) is a non-GFSI audit which focuses on Food Safety within the Agricultural Sector and includes horticultural, grains and pulses. The PSA is a great stepping stone to a GFSI level audit, for example a PrimusGFS audit.

PSA’s Defines Two Fundamental Areas:

  • Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) and/or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) 

  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) System

 

PSA Certification Options (Version 20.06):

  • GAP – Farm, Harvest Crew & Indoor Agriculture

  • GMP (without HACCP) – Packinghouse, Storage & Distribution, Cooling & Cold Storage

  • GMP (with HACCP) – Packinghouse, Cooling & Cold Storage, Processing

  • Preventive Controls – voluntary addendum following FSMA's PC for Human Food Rule

V20.06 offers the option of remote auditing as an alternative to on-site inspections.

The Toolkit for the Primus Standard is not associated with any particular certification body.  It is a public domain-type tool for those who are developing a food safety program under the Primus Standard.  CCI and other legally franchised certification body's use this tool for the basis of developing food safety programs.  Primus Standard audits conducted by CCI accept this tool.
